Description
The BLT tram depot in Oberwil was amplified without interrupting operations. The tram depot has new sidings for 46 trams as well as an integrated service garage. The slim structure takes up little land. The basic shape is the result of conformance to the logistic conditions. The façade recalls the clearance of a moving tram. With its wavy façades the building defines interesting spacial sections within the shifting rural and heterogeneous industrial surroundings. The extension is a steel construction clad in shimmering pearl blue steel panels. The elements of the façade create a polygonal surface, the roof edge and plinth are framed by bent profiles. The façade of the service tract consists of steel and glas panels . The park-and-ride building with the bus depot is to receive 12 new bus parking places and a rail service centre. The building is to be consistent and flexible in use. The grid and façade system of the new part are to be the same. The load carrying system is reinforced concrete and allows for future vertical extension. The façade consists of glazed folding doors and a system of framed aluminium and glass panels.
