Description

The nightclub Neva is located in the centre of Munich in the Maximilianstraße, and follows the traditions of 1970s nightclub culture. The narrow, hard-to-design room, cut off by an elevator, seams now natural because of the refined geometry of the zoning elements. A reception area with a high-quality backstitched leather padding is connected to the seatings, so-called ‘booths’, and to the small dance floor by means of a stretched bar. Narrow stairs lead to a gallery with a separate lounge area and a desk for the DJ. A consistent set of materials was specifically chosen such as black mineral stone for the curved bar, raw brass for all metal elements, and the umbra-coloured leather padding in combination with black stained oak for lounge and bar tables. The floor is covered by a combination of tarmac terrazzo and solnhofer tiles with an inlay of brass for the dance floor. The sculptural chandelier was made by hand from 30 000 mouth-blown glass pearls. The bar stools, as well as the organically shaped lounge furniture, and the wall lighting which responds to the geometric concept of the club, were specially developed by Arnold / Werner for this location.
